When you use Crochet Builder, we collect:

• Account information: Email address, display name (optional), and authentication data.
• Pattern data: Images you upload, pattern configurations, and generated patterns. Images are processed client-side and are not stored on our servers unless you explicitly save a pattern.
• Usage data: Pattern generation counts, download counts, and feature usage for quota management and analytics.
• Technical data: Browser type, device information, and IP address for service operation and security.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and improve the pattern generation service
• To manage your account and subscription
• To enforce usage quotas and tier restrictions
• To communicate important service updates
• To display public patterns in the gallery (free-tier patterns are always public)

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely in our database hosted on managed infrastructure. Saved patterns (including generated pattern data) are stored as JSON. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest.

4. Image Processing

Images are processed entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. The original image data is not uploaded to our servers. Only the generated pattern data (color grid, row instructions) is stored when you save a pattern.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Vercel: Hosting and deployment
• PostgreSQL provider: Database storage
• Email provider: Transactional emails (magic link authentication)

We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all data associated with your account
• Correction: Update your profile information
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data at any time via the Settings page
• Export: Download your patterns in PDF or text format

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (session management). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data (patterns, usage metrics, profile information) is permanently deleted.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notice.
