Terms of Service

1. Service Description

Crochet Builder (“the Service”) is a web application that converts uploaded images into crochet colorwork patterns. The Service provides pattern generation, color chart visualization, and downloadable pattern instructions.

2. Subscription Tiers

The Service offers two tiers:

• Free: Limited to 3 pattern generations per month. Patterns are public. PDF exports include a watermark. Personal use only — you may not sell items made from free-tier patterns.
• Premium: Unlimited pattern generations. Private or public patterns. Clean PDF and text exports. Commercial use rights — you may sell items made from your patterns.

3. Pattern Ownership & Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of the images you upload and the patterns generated from them. By uploading an image, you represent that you have the right to use that image. You are responsible for ensuring your use of any image does not infringe on third-party intellectual property rights.

Patterns generated from copyrighted images (photographs, artwork, logos) may be subject to the original copyright holder's rights. We recommend using only images you own or have explicit permission to use.

4. Personal vs. Commercial Use

Free tier: Patterns are licensed for personal use only. This includes gifts and charitable donations. You may not sell finished items made from free-tier patterns.

Premium tier: Patterns include commercial use rights. You may sell finished items (e.g., on Etsy, at craft fairs) made from patterns you generated with a Premium subscription. You may not redistribute the pattern files themselves.

5. Public Patterns

Free-tier patterns are always public and may appear in our gallery. Premium users may choose to make their patterns public or private. Public patterns are viewable by other users but cannot be downloaded without an account.

6. Prohibited Uses

• Uploading images that contain illegal, harmful, or offensive content
• Using the Service to infringe on intellectual property rights
• Attempting to circumvent subscription tier restrictions
• Reselling or redistributing pattern files (as opposed to finished items)
• Using automated tools to bulk-generate patterns

7. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that generated patterns will be error-free or produce specific results when crocheted. Pattern accuracy depends on gauge, yarn choice, and individual technique. We are not liable for any damages arising from the use of the Service or patterns generated by it.

8. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Account deletion removes all associated patterns and data.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
